4 Days Canoeing, The River Wye

>Bredwardine >Hereford >Hoarwithy >Ross on Wye >Symonds Yat >3 nights.

Arrived at Canoe The Wye (located in the grounds of the Paddocks Hotel, Symonds Yat West, HR9 6BL) around 9:30 Friday morning. After checking in with the friendly and really helpful staff, we given our life jackets, oars and watertight barrel. We were shown the river extraction point (for when we got back) and then unpacked the car and loaded our gear into the Canoes ready for the off. We were taken by mini bus to our srart point and after having had our safety breifing, we were helped down the river bank and into our canoes with all our gear (camping for 3 nights).

The itinerary 58 miles:-

Drop off from "Canoe The Wye" at Bredwardine

Dropping the Canoes into the River Wye, at this point cost £1 per canoe, make sure you have some coins. The drop off is on Private Land, so thats fare enough I guess.

Canoe for 14 miles to Hereford

We were in the river around 12:00. We had lunch (at bout 13:30) just after the Monnington Falls, this stretch of water must be checked before going down - just in case of any debris. Arriving in Hereford at about 18:30 ish Checked in (I had booked a plot in advance) at the bar of the rowing club. Put tents up then went for drink in the club house.

Camp overnight at Hereford Rowing Club

Walked into town centre for dinner, found a really nice pub (The Spreadeagle Inn) with good beer and food menus, plus a live band!

Canoe for 17 miles to Hoarwithy

we left around 10:00, after breakfast. Had a break around 11:30 and had lunch (around 14:30) about a mile before the confluence of the River Lugg. Arrived at site about 17:00 ish, put tents up and rested before dinner.

Camp overnight at  Tresseck Campsite

A short walk from the campsite, is the The New Harp Inn, we pre-booked dinner for 7 pm (worth booking as can get busy in season)

Canoe for 12 miles to Ross on Wye

Left Tresseck Site about 9:30, had break about 10;30 and then lunch around 12:30, got to Ross on Wye around 17:00

Camp overnight at Ross Rowing Club

We ate in the Royal Hotel, and had a drink in The Hope and Anchor

Canoe for 15 miles to Symonds Yat
